ABOUT

"We believe your home should be happy and lived-in. We believe that country-cottage is more than a style-- it encompasses your memories from long ago and the memories you are making today."

- Amy Upton -

Our story begins in the soft sunshine of the 1970s, when I, the youngest of 3 children, and my siblings were running barefoot and sweaty through the countryside of Kentucky.  We grew up in a somewhat messy but colorful home that was full of family and activity. On that farm with my grandparents across the road, my sister and I shared secrets and giggled in our old brass bed in a room with yellow butterflies wallpapering the walls. She was my very first friend, and we spent many nights talking late into the night as Johnny Carson played in the living room.

We were safe and happy in that home on the farm. The home where our grandmother would waltz in the back door anytime she pleased, bearing cobblers and paper sewing patterns to fit us to. The home where dad would return from his job at the factory and head straight to the barn-- another place we often spent our time. In the spring, we squealed and giggled over kittens and piglets. In the summers, we ran and played in the sweltering heat while the adults were tending the garden, shelling peas, shucking corn, or canning the latest ripe vegetable. We played ball. We splashed in the creek. We caught lightning bugs and kept them in old butter tubs with holes poked in the top. Our days were simple but full of love, hard work, and dreaming.

Momma always encouraged our dreaming, our creativity. She loved to decorate the house with beautiful pottery, hand-sewn dolls and pillows from Mammaw, miniatures in shadow boxes, and handcrafted furniture from a local carpenter. She would cross-stitch hundreds of samplers with my sister and take me to ceramics every week. She always let us play with her beautiful things, and there, in that well-worn farmhouse full of imagination, affection, and a mother that would hearten us to dream, that is where our love for a happy home came to be.

Our lovely childhood is the reason why my sister and I started Artisan Home in 2015. We believe your home should be happy and lived-in. We believe that country-cottage is more than a style-- it encompasses your memories from long ago and the memories you are making today. Our decor is nostalgic, inviting, and comfortable. Our collection is curated to make you smile and enjoy being at home. Our hope is that we can help you make your home joyful and full of wonderful memories too.
